In a recent summit held in Brussels, European Union leaders expressed their sorrow over the civilian casualties in Gaza, urging all parties involved to take every possible measure to protect civilians.
The EU welcomed the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2735, which outlines a comprehensive three-phase ceasefire agreement to end the conflict in Gaza.
The EU called for the full and immediate implementation of the resolution, including an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and a significant and sustained increase in humanitarian aid across Gaza.
EU leaders emphasized the urgent need for full, rapid, safe, and unhindered humanitarian access to Palestinians in need, allowing humanitarian workers and international organizations to operate effectively within Gaza.
To revive the political process, the leaders stressed that the EU would continue to work with international partners and actively contribute to coordinated efforts to rebuild Gaza and support the Palestinian Authority in implementing necessary reforms.
The EU also expressed concern over escalating tensions in the region, particularly along the Blue Line border between Lebanon and Israel.
The EU urged all actors to exercise restraint, prevent any further escalation, and engage in international diplomatic efforts in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
Additionally, the EU called on the European Commission and the High Representative to advance efforts in strengthening EU support for Lebanon.
