Belgian media outlets have reported an incident where an unidentified individual threw a hand grenade at the Israeli Embassy in the capital city of Brussels on Friday morning.
Belgian prosecutors have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to the Belgian newspaper “Le Soir,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Brussels announced the hurling of a hand grenade at the Israeli Embassy on Friday morning by an unidentified person, without providing further details.
Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib responded to the incident, urging responsibility and restraint in handling international conflicts and discouraging actions that fuel division.
He emphasized the importance of promoting peace over war in a message posted on his “X” platform account.
Earlier in May, several protests erupted against the Israeli military operation in Gaza in front of the Israeli Embassy in the Belgian capital.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Army Radio reported on Friday evening that “unknown assailants threw two hand grenades at the Israeli Embassy headquarters in Belgium,” with no injuries or damages reported as a result of the incident.
