The British newspaper The Sun has unveiled a bombshell regarding the future of the Premier League in the coming period.
The newspaper reported that the 2025 Club World Cup will cast a shadow over the English Premier League after many stars expressed their dissatisfaction with the addition of a new tournament to the calendar.
The report explained: “FIFA wants to reduce the number of Premier League clubs to 18, and this measure is to be applied to all leagues around the world.”
It added: “A war of words has erupted between associations, club representatives, and the governing body of football over the expanded World Cup to be held in America.”
The report continued: “The greatest concern is felt by many leagues such as the Spanish and English leagues, after La Liga president Javier Tebas stated that if no action is taken, the football industry will be at risk.”
Tebas attacked FIFA, stating that the organization only offers solutions by organizing new tournaments, while adapting to these changes would require the league to lose two teams, resulting in 70 players becoming unemployed.
