The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza announced on Wednesday that the death toll from Israeli bombardment has risen to 27,708, with 67,147 injured since October 7th.
In a statement released on its Facebook page, the ministry reported that “the Israeli occupation has committed 16 massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 123 martyrs and 169 injuries in the past 24 hours alone.”
The ministry further noted that on the 124th day of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, there are still victims under the rubble and on the streets, with Israeli forces preventing ambulance and civil defense teams from reaching them.
The Israeli military has been conducting a devastating war on Gaza since October 7th, in response to a surprise attack by Hamas, which Tel Aviv claims resulted in 1,200 deaths and the capture of 240 individuals.
This escalation marks a significant increase in the conflict’s intensity and its toll on the civilian population in Gaza.
Hamas has proposed a ceasefire strategy in three stages for the Gaza Strip, which includes the full retreat of Israeli forces, rebuilding the territory’s infrastructure, and swapping hostages and the deceased’s remains, as per a Reuters report on Wednesday, referencing the proposal.
The initial phase of the proposal calls for ceasefire talks with Israel through intermediaries, aiming to rebuild Gaza’s hospitals and refugee camps and secure the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the enclave’s populated regions.
This phase also anticipates a prisoner exchange involving Palestinian detainees in Israel and the provision of humanitarian aid within 45 days.
The subsequent phase proposes swapping all Israeli male detainees for a certain number of Palestinian prisoners, alongside the total withdrawal of the Israeli military from Gaza.
The final phase of the plan includes exchanging the remains of those killed in the conflict.
