The death toll among Palestinians in the Gaza Strip has surged to 31,184, according to the latest figures released by the Gaza-based Palestinian Health Ministry on Tuesday. The escalation comes amidst ongoing Israeli attacks on the region.
In the past 24 hours alone, 72 Palestinians have been killed and 129 others injured, bringing the total number of casualties to 72,889 since the commencement of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7, 2023. The Palestinian Health Ministry issued a statement confirming these figures.
Eyewitnesses and medical sources reported that nine individuals were killed, and several others sustained injuries after Israeli forces opened fire on a group of Palestinians awaiting aid at the Kuwaiti roundabout in southern Gaza City. However, no official comment has been forthcoming from the Israeli army regarding the incident.
The Israeli offensive in Gaza is in response to a Hamas incursion into southern Israeli territory on October 7, 2023. During this event, approximately 1,200 individuals lost their lives, with over 200 being taken hostage.
The situation in the region remains tense as casualties continue to mount, with calls for de-escalation growing louder from international quarters.
