The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Saturday that the death toll from the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip since October 7 has risen to approximately 35,000.
According to the ministry’s statement, the number of fatalities from the Israeli assault on Gaza has reached 21,8 resulting in 34,971 deaths.
The ministry stated that 28 people were killed and 69 others were injured within 24 hours until Saturday, noting that the total number of injuries has reached 78,641 since the start of the conflict over seven months ago.
In another development, the ministry announced that 80 bodies were found in three mass graves on the premises of the Shifa Medical Complex, with dozens of bodies found inside the complex’s departments.
The Gaza Civil Defense Authority stated that there are over “10,000 martyrs still under the rubble and have not been recovered yet.”
The Gaza Strip, home to around two million Palestinians, has been the site of repeated conflicts between Israel and Palestinian militant groups, including Hamas.
The recent escalation in violence has resulted in a significant loss of life and widespread destruction in Gaza, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the enclave.
The conflict has deep-rooted political and territorial dimensions, with both sides holding entrenched positions on issues such as land ownership, sovereignty, and the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Efforts to reach a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians have been hindered by numerous obstacles, including disputes over borders, security, and the status of Jerusalem.
The international community has repeatedly called for an end to the violence and a return to negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and just resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
