Negotiations to secure a ceasefire in the Gaza war will resume in Doha on Wednesday, with the intelligence chiefs of Egypt and the United States, along with Qatari and Israeli delegations, in attendance, according to Egypt’s state-affiliated Al-Qahera News TV.
An Egyptian security delegation in Doha aims to bridge the gap between Hamas and Israel to reach a truce agreement swiftly, a senior source told Al-Qahera News. The source mentioned that “there is an agreement over many points,” and the negotiations will continue in Cairo on Thursday.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and U.S. Central Intelligence Agency Director William Burns met in Cairo on Tuesday. President Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s position against the continuation of military operations in the Gaza Strip.
Egypt and Qatar have been leading mediation efforts in the nine-month-old conflict between Israel and Hamas, striving to end the fighting and secure the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
