The Algiers Declaration, issued after the 7th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum held in Algeria, underscored the imperative of leveraging natural gas resources to bolster sustainable development.
The summit emphasized the need for robust dialogue among producers, consumers, and relevant stakeholders to ensure supply and demand stability and market equilibrium.
The “Algiers Gas Declaration” highlighted the significance of purposeful investments to maintain market stability and ensure the unimpeded flow of financial resources.
It firmly rejected the use of climate change arguments to obstruct investments in natural gas through artificial interventions.
Furthermore, the “Algeria Declaration” reaffirmed the sovereign rights of member states over their resources, condemning any unilateral economic sanctions imposed outside the approval of the United Nations Security Council against the forum’s member states, as reported by Algerian Radio.
Heads of state and government from the forum’s member countries reiterated their commitment to the forum’s objectives, aspiring to enhance its role and contribution to global energy security, justice, and sustainability.
The declaration stated, “We have endeavored to promote natural gas resources in member states to advance sustainable development that benefits both producing and consuming nations alike.” It stressed the importance of coordination to strengthen research, innovation, technology transfer, and capacity-building efforts.
