The Israeli military announced on Monday that it had bombed a building housing Hezbollah members in the Yaroun region of southern Lebanon yesterday. In a statement on “Telegram,” it added that the air force also targeted Hezbollah elements in the town of Hula. The military’s targets included a weapons storage facility in Meis al-Jabal and military infrastructure in Khiam.
The statement mentioned that nearly daily reciprocal shelling across the border began between the Israeli military on one side and the Hezbollah group and Palestinian armed factions in Lebanon on the other, starting with the Israeli war on Gaza on October 7th last year. Five Hezbollah members and two civilians were killed in Israeli strikes targeting southern Lebanon on Sunday, according to the National News Agency and the Iran-backed party.
The Lebanese official news agency reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted motorcycles in three villages in southern Lebanon, namely Hula, Aita al-Shaab, and Naqoura. The agency clarified that the Israeli shelling also caused fires in several places, particularly due to Israel’s use of phosphorus ammunition in these areas.
The Israeli military in a statement said it targeted two Hezbollah members while they were active in the Aita al-Shaab area, while Hezbollah mourned five of its members. Meanwhile, the Israeli military stated, “On Sunday, it eliminated seven Hezbollah terrorists in airstrikes” in southern Lebanon.
Hezbollah, in separate statements, claimed responsibility for attacks on Israeli positions on Sunday, stating they were in response to the Israeli strikes on the towns of Naqoura and Aita al-Shaab and the southern villages.
