The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering the growth of both small and large enterprises in the region, with the aim of aiding the reconstruction of the economic and social fabric of war-affected areas in Iraq.
Since its inception, the IOM has allocated over $27 million to support more than 1,600 businesses, contributing to the creation of livelihoods for thousands of employees and their families.
According to the United Nations Information Center, during the height of 2015 and amid the conflict sparked by ISIS, the war inflicted significant damage on infrastructure and the population of Mosul.
Recognizing the urgent need for economic revitalization, the IOM has worked diligently to bolster economic recovery in Iraq, with a particular focus on empowering small businesses.
In alignment with the IOM’s objectives, these initiatives have not only spurred economic growth but have also played a pivotal role in fostering resilience within affected communities.
By providing financial support and resources to a wide range of enterprises, the organization has contributed to the restoration of stability and livelihoods for those impacted by the conflict.
