Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani affirmed on Monday that Iran and Russia are committed to expanding relations in all areas, and a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement between the two countries will be signed once it is finalized.
Kanaani told reporters, “Russia and Iran are determined to expand relations in all areas, and a strategic agreement will be signed between the two countries when ready.”
He pointed out that the issue of “transit” of goods between the two countries is one of the most important common issues between Russia and Iran, helping to develop the economies of other countries.
Kanaani stated that Iranian-Russian relations are “very good and expanding in various fields, and we witness significant progress in economic and trade relations between the two countries.”
He explained that the two countries cooperate in “combating terrorism and Western unilateralism and share in solving global problems,” noting that there is a common view between the two countries on many issues in the region and the world.
Regarding relations with Saudi Arabia, Kanaani said bilateral relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are moving in the right direction, and the participation of the Saudi delegation in the “Iran Expo 2024” indicates the development of relations between them.
He emphasized that relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia are moving in the “right and natural” direction.
Regarding the possibility of classifying the Iranian Revolutionary Guard as a “terrorist organization,” the spekesperson considered that “if it weren’t for the role of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in combating terrorism, members of the European Parliament would have been threatened by terrorists behind the doors of Parliament,” according to him.
Kanaani added that Israel “has no desire for any stability in the region.”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed with his Iranian counterpart, Ali Bagheri Kani, the situation in the Middle East, expressing deep concern over the escalation in light of regional crises.
