“The Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced this evening, Sunday, that it targeted the American base “Qasrak” in the countryside of Hasakah, Syria, with drones, and a military target in the occupied Golan, with appropriate weapons.
“The Islamic Resistance in Iraq” stated in two separate statements that they targeted “continuing our approach in resisting the American occupation forces in Iraq and the region, and in response to the massacres of the Zionist entity against our people in Gaza, the mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq attacked the occupied Qasrak base in the countryside of Hasakah, Syria, with drones, and a military target in the occupied Golan, confirming the Islamic Resistance’s continuation in striking the enemy’s strongholds.”
“The Islamic Resistance in Iraq” had announced on Saturday the targeting of two American occupation bases in Syrian depth, “Al-Tanf” and “Al-Shaddadi”, with drones, affirming their continuation in “striking the enemy’s strongholds.”
An American official told the “Washington Post” that the “International Coalition” forces have been subjected to about 115 attacks in the Middle East since October 17 last year.
The attacks have been attributed to Iran-backed militias and have involved a mix of drones, rockets, mortars, and ballistic missiles. While many of these attacks were intercepted or did not reach their targets, some resulted in injuries to U.S. troops, including dozens of cases of traumatic brain injuries.
The increase in attacks followed a period of relative calm and a truce with Iranian-backed forces in Iraq. The attacks resumed after a Thanksgiving weekend break that coincided with a humanitarian pause in the Israel-Hamas war. The Pentagon recorded 78 attacks in total, with a reduction in frequency after late November.
These attacks are seen as part of the broader regional tensions exacerbated by the Israel-Hamas war. The U.S. response to these attacks has been measured, including targeted strikes on facilities in Syria used by the militias. The Pentagon has emphasized its intent to defend U.S. and coalition forces against any threats, suggesting responses at times and manners of their choosing.
