The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” announced early Thursday that it had targeted an Israeli center and objective within Iraqi and Palestinian territories in two separate operations. This was in response to the ongoing Israeli attack on Gaza, which has continued for the third consecutive month. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq stated that in their commitment to resisting occupation and in support of the people in Gaza, they targeted a technical espionage center of the Zionist entity in the northeastern Arbil province in the Kurdistan region of Iraq with appropriate weapons.
In a separate statement, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq mentioned targeting a vital objective in their occupied lands south of the Eliad settlement with appropriate weapons, reiterating their stance to continue attacking enemy strongholds.
The Israeli army confirmed on Wednesday that a building in the southern Golan Heights was damaged by a drone attack. The Israeli army radio reported that an explosive projectile launched from Syria landed in the southern Golan, hitting a building without causing injuries.
The Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack on the building, stating that they targeted a vital objective in their occupied lands south of the Eliad settlement.
Armed groups in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon have been targeting Israeli border positions in response to Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have been ongoing since October 7, when Hamas, which controls the Strip, launched operation “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” This operation involved thousands of rockets fired from Gaza into Israel and the storming of Israeli towns adjacent to the Strip, resulting in the death of about 1,200 Israelis, mostly settlers, and the capture of about 250 others.
Israel responded by officially declaring war on the Gaza Strip, beginning with destructive bombings followed by ground operations in the Strip. These operations have resulted in over 21,000 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and over 54,000 injuries, as reported by health authorities in the Strip, and the destruction of infrastructure, putting the Strip under complete siege.
There was a seven-day ceasefire, reached through Egyptian, Qatari, and American mediation, during which prisoner exchanges of women and children took place, and aid was brought into the Gaza Strip. However, the fighting between Israel and Palestinian factions in Gaza, led by the Al-Qassam Brigades of Hamas, resumed on the morning of Friday, December 1, after the end of the seven-day ceasefire.
