Israeli authorities have reportedly tabled fresh proposals for a potential hostage deal, as disclosed by the Saudi state-owned al-Arabiya channel on Tuesday.
According to sources familiar with the matter, Israel has suggested the creation of three safe corridors in the northern Gaza region, aiming to facilitate the gradual return of Palestinians to their residences.
In exchange for these provisions, Israel purportedly requires regular updates on the condition of hostages held in captivity by Hamas, a Palestinian militant group.
The proposed initiative comes amid ongoing negotiations mediated by Egyptian officials in Cairo, involving representatives from Mossad, Shin Bet, and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office indicated that the delegation was scheduled to return to Israel on Tuesday afternoon following discussions on both hostage release and ceasefire arrangements.
During the talks, mediators developed a new framework to present to Hamas, emphasizing Israel’s expectation for intensified efforts towards a negotiated resolution.
“Israel expects the mediators to exert greater pressure on Hamas to advance negotiations conducive to reaching a mutually acceptable agreement,” stated the Prime Minister’s Office.
