Israeli artillery targeted the outskirts of Zebqin and Labouneh in southern Lebanon, amid ongoing aerial reconnaissance operations in the sector.
The Israeli military, which launched an airstrike near the town of Hanouiyeh in southern Lebanon on Friday, continues its extensive military campaign against Gaza since October 7, resulting in thousands of casualties and significant infrastructure damage.
The Israeli military also announced last Thursday the assassination of Mohammad Ali Nasser Fran, a senior Hezbollah official, in an air raid in southern Lebanon.
According to a statement released by the Israeli army and reported by the Israeli newspaper Maariv, Fran was responsible for Hezbollah’s logistical and production infrastructure in the region, particularly involved in the production of strategic and unique weaponry in recent years.
The statement further noted that the infrastructure Fran was responsible for had been targeted in attacks over the past months.
The confrontations between Hezbollah and the Israeli military began simultaneously with the outbreak of the Gaza war on October 7, along the border areas. Israeli officials have also threatened a potential ground operation in southern Lebanon.
