Israeli media reported on Tuesday that Israeli forces have initiated a pullout from the city and refugee camp of Jenin in the West Bank. This follows a comprehensive military operation, launched at dawn on Monday.
According to Israel’s Channel 7, Israeli military forces have started to withdraw from Jenin, having concluded a significant operation in the refugee camp. The operation, which was aimed at conducting raids on suspected militant hideouts and apprehending sought-after Palestinians, started in the early hours of Monday.
The operation, dubbed “Home and Garden” by the Israeli military, saw the beginning of a pullout from the city and refugee camp of Jenin. A video clip detailing the departure of these forces from the Palestinian city was also attached to the report.
Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated on Monday, “The Israeli army has initiated a broad operation against terrorist targets in the city of Jenin in the West Bank”. He asserted the operation in Jenin will continue until all its objectives are accomplished.
Netanyahu was quoted by the Israeli media as stating, “Jenin has become a sanctuary for terrorists in recent months, and we are putting an end to this today.” He highlighted that Israeli forces are targeting terrorists, detaining wanted individuals, and eliminating bomb-making workshops and improvised explosive devices in Jenin.
The Prime Minister further expressed his gratitude for the continuous American support of Israel. He underscored that “since yesterday, Israeli soldiers have been pursuing a legitimate mission against those seeking to obliterate our country.”
The West Bank, specifically the city of Jenin and its camp, has been the site of the largest Israeli military operation in 20 years, for the second day in a row. Early Monday morning, Israeli fighters and drones executed a large-scale bombardment of the refugee camp in the northern West Bank.
The operation saw an unprecedented infiltration by the Israeli army’s special forces into the refugee camp, marking an event not seen in the past two decades, according to Israeli media reports.
