An Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Wednesday killed senior Hezbollah commander Mohammad Naameh Nasser, known as “Abu Naameh.”
The attack, near Tyre, occurred amid intensified global diplomatic efforts to prevent escalating clashes between Hezbollah and Israel from leading to an all-out war involving Iran.
Nasser, head of Hezbollah’s Aziz Unit, is the highest-ranking official killed since Taleb Sami Abdullah’s death in a June 11 airstrike.
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah honored Abdullah for his pivotal front-line role since October 8. Local media showed residents rushing to a burning vehicle, and Civil Defense reported one wounded person transported to a hospital.
