Italian Interior Minister is collaborating with Tunisia to fight cross-border criminal elements that manage human trafficking networks.
Matteo Bianchedi stated: “The joint Italian-Tunisian operations room has devised an action plan to intensify efforts against smugglers.”
He added: “The room will convene once again next week.”
The agency also highlighted that the Italian minister conducted a fruitful, extended phone conversation with his Tunisian counterpart, Kamal Al-Faqih.
The Ministry of Interior announced that a phone call took place between Minister Kamal Al-Faqih and his Italian counterpart, Bianchedi.
Both ministers reviewed the current status and future prospects of cooperation relations and partnership programs, particularly in the domains of migration and organized crime.
The ministry indicated that the call served as a fresh opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their genuine intentions to advance and elevate these relations to the highest levels.
This development echoes the depth and long-standing nature of the historical ties between the two nations, serving the interests of both friendly peoples.
The two sides addressed ways to enhance the capabilities of Tunisian security units in combating networks engaged in human trafficking. Organizing irregular migration between the two countries was also discussed.
It was emphasized that the ministers agreed to maintain the exchange of information on this matter. They aimed to uncover the parties involved in the transportation of African migrants from the sub-Saharan region and coastal countries to Tunisia.
