Japan’s Minister of Economy Yasutoshi Nishimura has announced that Japan intends to impose an export ban on cars with engines exceeding 1.9 liters and hybrid cars to Russia, starting from August 9th.
Nishimura stated that the measures will be officially announced on August 2nd and will come into effect on August 9th.
Under this ban, the export of cars with engines above 1900 milliliters and hybrid cars, as well as large vehicle tires, will be prohibited to Russia, according to the minister.
He further explained that the ban is part of measures to restrict the export of goods that could enhance Russia’s industrial base.
Nishimura emphasized that the Ministry of Economy is closely monitoring the situation in Ukraine and, in close cooperation with the international community, especially the G7 nations and other ministries, will make every effort to enforce the export ban.
