A high-ranking military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – the Arab Army, announced the successful thwarting of a major drug smuggling operation from Syrian territory into Jordan. The operation, conducted by the Eastern Military Zone on Thursday evening, marks a significant blow to cross-border drug trafficking.
According to the official website of the armed forces on Friday, the Jordanian border guards, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and military security agencies, detected a group of smugglers attempting to illegally cross from Syria into Jordan. Quick reaction patrols were deployed, and engagement rules were applied, resulting in the injury of several smugglers who then fled back into Syrian territory.
The source revealed the confiscation of approximately 200,000 Captagon pills and 209 kilograms of hashish. The seized drugs were handed over to the relevant authorities for further action.
