Kuwait has begun its oral submissions before the International Court of Justice in The Hague, seeking an advisory opinion on the legal consequences arising from the violations by the occupying power of the occupied Palestinian territories, following a request from the UN General Assembly to the Court.
Kuwait’s ambassador to The Hague, Ali Al-Dhafiri, stated that the situation in Gaza is a result of 75 years of Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
The Kuwaiti representative at the International Court of Justice highlighted that the Israeli occupation is forcibly displacing Palestinians by destroying their homes and confiscating their lands.
He further emphasized that the Israeli occupation has launched an extensive settlement campaign in the Palestinian territories, which constitutes a serious violation of international law.
The representative insisted on the Palestinians’ right to an independent state and reiterated the illegitimacy of the occupation.
Concluding Kuwait’s presentation at the International Court of Justice, the representative urged the United Nations not to support the occupying state.
