Kuwait’s State Security agency announced on Thursday the arrest of citizens affiliated with a banned organization aimed at undermining the country’s essential systems.
According to a statement from the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, “Security agencies, represented by the State Security agency, have successfully apprehended citizens affiliated with a banned organization that aims to dismantle the country’s fundamental systems. They promoted their ideas on a social media platform and expressed intent to leave the country to join the organization’s members. They have been referred to the Public Prosecution to take necessary legal action against them.”
In May, the Kuwaiti Public Prosecution announced the arrest of a citizen accused of joining what it described as a banned group that planned “terrorist” acts in Saudi Arabia
In January, the Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a citizen suspected of planning terrorist activities targeting U.S. military installations within Kuwait. According to the Public Prosecution, the individual is accused of joining a prohibited organization and orchestrating terrorist acts within the country. The announcement, made on Wednesday, detailed that the suspect had engaged in disseminating propaganda for the terror group through social media platforms, promoting its activities and ideology.
