Prime Minister Osama Hammad of Libya’s Government-designate announced the commencement of a major reconstruction and development project in the Oasis regions, following the completion of an extensive survey of longstanding issues and halted projects in these areas.
Accompanied by the General Director of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, Eng. Belqasim Haftar, and other top officials, Hammad visited the Oasis regions on Thursday.
The delegation, including the Minister of Defense Ihmaid Houma and the Deputy Minister of Local Governance Abu Bakr al-Zawi, was warmly received by local dignitaries, such as the mayors of Jalu, Jikharra, and Awjila, and key community leaders.
Their visit started in Awjila where a comprehensive meeting was held at the municipal headquarters with the Mayor of Awjila, Ahmed Petron, highlighting the government’s partnership with the Libyan National Army for this initiative.
Prime Minister Hammad emphasized that the development efforts, directly overseen by the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, have reached not only the Eastern and Southern regions but also parts of Western Libya, including Zawiya and Misrata.
The projects aim to revitalize infrastructure, build vital facilities, and pave roads, enhancing stability and prosperity across these historically neglected areas.
Belqasim Haftar detailed that the Oasis areas, vital for their oil resources, had been overlooked in past years, stressing the urgency of their development needs.
The launch of these initiatives marks a significant step towards addressing regional disparities and fostering comprehensive national growth.
This reconstruction drive in Libya’s strategic regions underscores the government’s commitment to equitable development and stabilizing the nation by uplifting key economic areas.
