French President Emmanuel Macron is preparing to promptly announce a state of emergency in France, a move aimed at accelerating the repair of destruction inflicted during recent riotous activities.
As reported by the French news channel BFMTV, President Macron has confirmed his intention to swiftly enact emergency legislation to hasten the implementation of rapid recovery measures.
Previously, the French President had indicated that France had passed the zenith of the civil disturbances. The unrest in France sparked off over several days, triggered by a roadside incident where a police officer fired upon a non-compliant 17-year-old youth of Arab origin.
The French Ministry of the Interior states that about 3,800 cars were torched during the unrest, while numerous government and police buildings were attacked and vandalized.
