On Monday, France’s President Emmanuel Macron affirmed his country’s intention to convince its European partners that the establishment of new strategic security agreements is of utmost necessity.
He emphasized that Western nations need to create a new structure for safety and security in the aftermath of the Ukrainian crisis, according to agencies.
During the annual conference of France’s ambassadors in Paris, he stated, “France must have the will to negotiate and sign such agreements. I intend to convince our European partners of the necessity of agreements that establish a framework for all types of weapons and military activities in Europe.”
Macron further elaborated that preparing for long-term peace in Ukraine must be accompanied by the enhancement of defensive capabilities for European Union countries.”
In this regard, he highlighted that he will collaborate with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on joint defense projects, including the development of a new fighter aircraft for the Future Combat Air System.
Moreover, Macron noted in his speech that Western countries are currently facing the danger of weakness due to the complex international context.
He clarified that the current international context is becoming increasingly intricate, thereby creating a risk of weakening the West and Europe, alluding to emerging new powers entering the international stage.
