Russia and Iran are crafting a significant new treaty, focusing on cooperation guidelines. Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko shared this at the Valdai Discussion Club.
“We’re developing a major new treaty with Iran, covering key cooperation areas,” said Rudenko.
Russia-Iran relations have consistently improved in recent years, according to Rudenko.
“We expect these relations to reach new heights,” he added.
During the Iranian President’s January 2022 Moscow visit, he proposed a 20-year cooperation agreement, updating the 2001 version. Moscow has not signed this draft yet.
Iranian officials previously suggested the agreement was ready and expected a quick signing. However, recent reports highlight the need for additional preparations.
