The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has called on the international community to translate global and American positions advocating for the implementation of the two-state solution into practical steps. The ministry emphasizes the need for swift recognition of the state of Palestine, granting it full membership in the United Nations, and exerting genuine pressure on the occupying state to halt settler activities and disarm settlers.
In a press statement today, the ministry highlighted that the Israeli right-wing, along with its settler followers, challenges international peace efforts daily. They actively oppose calls for conflict resolution, attempting to alter the historical, political, and legal realities in the West Bank. This is done to obstruct the establishment of a viable, geographically connected, and sovereign Palestinian state.
The ministry asserted that imposing effective international sanctions on the entire settlement system plays a crucial role in safeguarding the political solution to the conflict, preventing its loss, and providing the necessary protection for the two-state solution, thereby ensuring the security and stability of the region and the world.
Condemning the settlers’ violations and crimes against Palestinian citizens, their lands, properties, homes, and holy sites, the ministry pointed to recent incidents such as the invasion of the “Bab al-Rahma” cemetery, desecration of graves and monuments, and daily attacks on citizens in Masafer Yatta with the aim of displacing them from their homes and lands. The ministry also highlighted continuous assaults on the town of “Qusra” south of Nablus, the Jordan Valley, and the ongoing pursuits of citizens in areas classified as (C).
The ministry stated that the Israeli right-wing exploits global preoccupation with the ongoing conflict in Gaza to deepen the gradual annexation of the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem. This is achieved through the expansion and legitimization of more illegal settlements, the establishment of additional outpost communities, and the construction of massive settlement roads, devouring thousands of dunams of Palestinian land.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers this an open Israeli war against any opportunity to materialize the Palestinian state on the ground, with its capital in East Jerusalem. It perceives these actions as detrimental to international efforts aimed at halting aggression in Gaza, opening a political path for conflict resolution through peaceful diplomatic means, based on the principle of the two-state solution.
