A group of residents and youth from the city of Misrata held a protest in front of the Public Prosecutor’s office, decrying the deteriorating economic and living conditions in the country.
The protesters condemned the ongoing cash shortages in banks, which force citizens, particularly women, to stand in long queues, as well as the continuous embezzlement and theft of Libyan funds.
During the protest, the residents and youth of Misrata demanded that skilled individuals not be marginalized, that criminals be held accountable, and that laws be swiftly enforced.
They expressed their support for the city’s security forces in performing their duties in accordance with the law and separating their roles from political influences.
Furthermore, the residents and youth of Misrata called on officials to take responsibility and set aside their differences, which have negatively impacted the provision of services to citizens.
At the beginning of 2024, EgyptAir confirmed its intention to operate direct flights to the city of Misrata.
Yahia Zakaria, the Chairman of the company’s board of directors, announced that the new route will include one weekly flight every Thursday.
Misrata will become the third destination in Libya for EgyptAir, following its existing flights to Benina International Airport in Benghazi and Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli, as reported by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.
The goal is to implement the ambitious plan of expanding the company’s network in the African continent, reaching several vital points.
