In a significant meeting held in Doha, Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, engaged in discussions with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas regarding the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.
According to an official statement from the Amiri Diwan, the talks focused on the ongoing efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The Emir of Qatar expressed his support for ending the division and hoped that these efforts would culminate in success, serving the Palestinian people and their national interests.
The Palestinian News Agency reported that during the meeting with the Emir of Qatar, President Abbas emphasized the Palestinian Authority’s coordination with Qatar to secure an immediate halt to the hostilities in Gaza and to support the official Palestinian stance aimed at ending the occupation.
Concurrently, Anadolu Agency noted that President Abbas arrived in Qatar on an official visit of unspecified duration.
This visit coincides with the Qatar-Egypt-US efforts to negotiate a prisoner exchange deal between Hamas and Israel and to cease the ongoing conflict initiated by Israel on the Gaza Strip since October 7th.
Israel is currently facing charges of committing genocide at the International Court of Justice due to its actions in the conflict.
