The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has vehemently condemned the terrorist attack carried out by militants from the banned terrorist organization ISIS (Daesh) against Syrian soldiers.
The attack targeted a military bus and occurred in the desert near the second station southeast of Deir ez-Zur, resulting in the tragic loss of 20 Syrian soldiers and the injury of 10 others.
In an official statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed its deep condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to the injured.
The statement also reiterated Russia’s solidarity with the Syrian leadership and people in their fight against terrorism.
Furthermore, the statement pointed out that the unlawful military presence of the United States in Syria remains a significant destabilizing factor in the region.
The ongoing American military presence, particularly in the northern and northeastern regions of Syria—such as Deir ez-Zur, Hasakah, and Raqqa—has sparked tensions and contributed to the ongoing instability in the area.
The conflict in Syria has been further exacerbated by these external interventions, with the Syrian government repeatedly asserting that the US military presence on its territory amounts to occupation and international piracy. These actions are seen as attempts to overtly exploit Syria’s oil resources.
