Yury Popov, Deputy Head of Russia‘s Center for the Reconciliation of Opposing Parties in Syria, part of the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that aircraft from the US-led International Coalition Against Terrorism violated Syrian airspace in the Al-Tanf region 14 times in the past day.
According to the Russian news agency TASS, Popov stated that “coalition aircraft continue to create a dangerous situation that could lead to aerial incidents and escalate the situation in Syrian airspace.”
Popov detailed that four F-15 fighter jets, four Rafale fighter jets, and six A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft from the coalition breached Syrian airspace in the Al-Tanf region, an area intersected by international air routes, seven times in the past day.
Additionally, Russian military police units conducted patrols in the provinces of Aleppo, Raqqa, and Hasakah.
Popov reported six artillery shelling incidents targeting Syrian government forces by terrorists in the Idlib de-escalation zone.
Popov also mentioned that a Syrian soldier was wounded by sniper fire at a government forces’ position near the settlement of Nahshiba in Latakia province, and another soldier was injured near the settlement of Arnas in Aleppo province.
In May, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria accused the international coalition of violating Syrian airspace 10 times within 24 hours.
This allegation underscores the ongoing tensions and complex dynamics in the region. The violations were by two F-15 fighter jets, two Rafale fighters, two Typhoon fighters, and two A-10 Thunderbolt warplanes.
