Tunisian President Kais Saied conveyed his country’s commitment to enhancing friendly ties and productive cooperation with Russia across various sectors during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Thursday.
The Tunisian presidency, in a statement, reported that President Saied discussed the historical relations between Tunisia and Russia during the meeting. Additionally, he reiterated Tunisia’s unwavering and unconditional support for the Palestinian people, urging the international community to intervene and halt the daily attacks against them.
Foreign Minister Lavrov expressed Russia’s readiness to intensify its close relations with Tunisia in several key areas. These areas include grains, energy, health, higher education, cultural exchange, modern technologies, and space. The commitment to promoting trade exchange between the two countries was also emphasized.
Lavrov’s two-day official visit to Tunisia commenced on Wednesday night, following an invitation from Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar. Ammar had previously visited Moscow on September 26 and 27, setting the stage for continued diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
