Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu, announced on Tuesday that Kyiv’s military reserves have almost run out. This declaration comes at a time when Kyiv has been launching a counter-offensive since June to reclaim territories under Russian control.
Speaking at the 11th Moscow International Security Conference, Shoigu stated, “Despite extensive Western assistance, Ukrainian forces have failed to achieve any significant outcomes. A prime example is the announced strategic counter-offensive. Preliminary results from the battles indicate that Ukraine’s military resources are nearly depleted.”
Shoigu also commented on the US’s involvement, suggesting that under the guise of supporting Kyiv, the United States is “depleting the military arsenals of its global partners.” He went on to claim that in reality, the US is “clearing the market for its military-industrial complex.”
Further, Shoigu asserted that for nations to receive new weapons, they would have to agree to curtail their sovereignty in security matters. He cited Europe as an example, stating, “Their defense policy is completely subjected to Washington’s interests.”
