Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Walid Al-Khurayji, stated that Syria’s reintegration into the Arab sphere “restores stability to the region.” He further reiterated the Kingdom’s support for efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian crisis, preserving its unity.
The Saudi newspaper, “Okaz,” cited Al-Khurayji, emphasizing that Syria’s return to the Arab League would significantly contribute to resolving the Syrian conflict. Such a move would restore stability to both Syria and the region as a whole, safeguarding Syria’s security, its Arab identity, and the integrity of its territory.
Al-Khurayji underlined his country’s commitment to humanitarian causes. He highlighted that Saudi Arabia has consistently utilized its resources to champion these issues. Evidence of this commitment is the Kingdom’s contribution of over $95 billion in aid over the past 70 years, benefiting 160 countries worldwide. Such generosity positions Saudi Arabia among the leading donor nations in humanitarian and developmental assistance.
Additionally, Al-Khurayji reaffirmed the Kingdom’s emphasis on the importance of peace in the Middle East. He regards it as a strategic choice for Arab nations. Saudi Arabia encourages negotiations to reach a comprehensive and fair solution addressing the aspirations of the Palestinian people. This stance is consistent with international decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative. Moreover, the Kingdom has expressed its condemnation of the recurring unilateral Israeli attacks and provocations, which hinder the peace process.
