Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, engaged in a discussion with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, concerning future opportunities, Riyadh-Tehran relations, and avenues for mutual collaboration.
The meeting took place in Jeddah yesterday (Friday).
The discussions at the meeting encompassed developments in both regional and international arenas, along with the concerted efforts being made toward them.
Abdollahian conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince. He also extended the greetings and respect of President Raisi to Saudi Arabia’s leadership.
The Saudi side of the meeting included Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs. On the Iranian side, Ali Reza Enayati, the Advisor to the Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohsen Mortazavi, the Director-General of the Protocol Department at the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Hassan Zarnkara Barghouni, the Acting Ambassador of Iran to Riyadh, were in attendance.
It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister had previously met Abdollahian in Riyadh on Thursday.
During this meeting, it was announced that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques extended an invitation to the Iranian President to visit the Kingdom.
This announcement was made during a joint press conference, marking the resumption of the diplomatic missions between the two countries and the commencement of their ambassadors’ duties—a significant stride towards enhancing the bilateral relationship.
