In a statement released on Saturday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its call for all Sudanese parties to uphold the outcomes of the Jeddah talks, emphasizing the critical need for stability in the region.
The Saudi Ministry expressed its optimism that all factions in Sudan would adhere to the Security Council resolution in a manner that safeguards the well-being of the Sudanese people and the nation itself.
Jeddah, hosting a series of talks last year, aimed to facilitate dialogue between the conflicting parties in Sudan – the regular army and the rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces. The objective was to reach a resolution for the ongoing conflict, which has displaced over three million people, including more than 700,000 who sought refuge in neighboring countries.
However, talks have faced setbacks and have been temporarily halted due to numerous ceasefire violations by both the regular army and the Rapid Support Forces. The Kingdom’s call for adherence to the Jeddah outcomes underscores the importance of diplomatic solutions to bring stability to Sudan and alleviate the humanitarian crisis affecting millions in the region.
