The address, delivered on behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz by Prince Faisal bin Farhan, the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, stemmed from Saudi Arabia’s dedication to the UN’s objectives of maintaining international peace and security.
Prince Faisal emphasized the international community’s responsibility to firmly stand against supporting and sponsoring terrorism and extremism. He stressed the importance of rejecting all forms of disrespect towards sanctities, promoting hate ideologies, and acts of Islamophobia.
Prince Faisal condemned incidents of desecrating the Holy Quran, warning that such actions undermine mutual respect and global harmony. He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s dedication to fostering global peace, moderation, and the promotion of tolerance.
Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister further reiterated the country’s Vision 2030 aims to bolster development and meet the aspirations of upcoming generations. The vision focuses on empowering women and youth, fostering creativity, and promoting values of openness and dialogue.
Prince Faisal asserted Saudi Arabia’s commitment to human rights, pointing out explicit regulations in Saudi laws aimed at enhancing and protecting these rights. He highlighted the nation’s developmental approach, emphasizing the importance of human-centric sustainable progress.
On the topic of nuclear disarmament, Prince Faisal voiced Saudi Arabia’s emphasis on the global community’s commitment to existing legal frameworks to achieve a nuclear-free world, especially in the Middle East.
Discussing global economic conditions, the foreign minister remarked on the critical role of global energy market stability for global economic growth. Saudi Arabia, he highlighted, remains devoted to maintaining the stability, reliability, and sustainability of global oil markets to benefit both producers and consumers.
Addressing environmental concerns, Prince Faisal acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s recognition of climate change challenges.
He emphasized the nation’s commitment to reducing emissions, adapting to climate effects, and supporting a gradual and responsible transition to cleaner, low-emission energy systems using all available resources.
