The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia won, Thursday, the presidency of the Executive Council of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization during the 28th General Assembly held yesterday in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
According to “Okaz” newspaper, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, delivered a speech during the General Assembly of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, where he stated that “this victory reflects the high status occupied by the Kingdom in international and regional organizations.” He emphasized Saudi Arabia’s significant role in the civil aviation industry at local, regional, and international levels, as well as its active participation in specialized international civil aviation organizations.
The Saudi minister explained that since joining the Arab Civil Aviation Organization as a founding member, Saudi Arabia has been keen on supporting the organization’s efforts through active participation, work, and coordination to achieve its objectives. This includes involvement in organizational structures, the Executive Council, and technical committees formed by the organization.
Al-Jasser highlighted that Saudi Arabia hosts the regional office for the Safety Monitoring System for the Middle East and North Africa, as well as the Cooperative Aviation Security Program for the Middle East. Additionally, the Kingdom supports the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) through the “No Country Left Behind” initiative with a million-dollar contribution.
Al-Jasser pledged that Saudi Arabia will “continue diligent efforts to develop and support the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, enhance its leading role internationally, and collaborate with stakeholders in the Arab civil aviation sector and our international partners to strengthen the aviation and air transport industry.”
Saudi Arabia is one of the founding members of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, an Arab specialized organization under the League of Arab States established in 1996. Its mission is to strengthen cooperation and coordination among Arab countries in the field of civil aviation and its development.
