The Saudi Ministry of Health has issued a warning to pilgrims about the dangers of high surface temperatures in the holy sites, which can reach up to 72 degrees Celsius in certain mountainous areas.
In a statement released today by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the Ministry highlighted the significant health risks posed by prolonged exposure to sunlight, especially as this year’s Hajj season coincides with high temperatures in Mecca.
These conditions are considered one of the major challenges faced by pilgrims.
The Ministry has advised pilgrims to consistently use umbrellas to avoid direct sun exposure, drink sufficient amounts of water throughout the day even if they do not feel thirsty, and adhere to all health guidelines and recommendations.
Additionally, they should avoid going out and being exposed to the sun, or walking on or touching hot surfaces during peak hours.
