The Somali army announced on Sunday the successful culmination of a new military operation in the Mudug governorate, where 26 members of the extremist al-Shabaab Movement were killed.
The operation also targeted terrorist hideouts in the region.
This announcement follows a previous military engagement on Friday, during which the Somali armed forces reported the elimination of over 50 terrorists in the same area, marking a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to combat extremism.
Somalia has grappled with persistent insecurity, primarily driven by threats from terror groups such as al-Shabaab and Daesh/ISIL. The recent military operations underscore the nation’s commitment to addressing and neutralizing these security challenges.
