The Somali National Army has successfully neutralized 30 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group in a joint military operation with international partners in the Lower Shabelle province, located in southern Somalia.
According to the Somali News Agency (SONNA), the strategically planned operation commenced early Saturday morning in the “Jilib Marka” area of Marka city, the capital of Lower Shabelle province.
The military action targeted a gathering of Al-Shabaab militants, following intelligence received by the Somali Army about the assembly.
Army officers confirmed that military equipment in possession of the terrorists was seized during the operation.
In a related development, leaders and members of the terrorist group were also eliminated in a military operation in the Middle Shabelle province, central Somalia.
This operation, conducted by the Somali Army in collaboration with local resistance forces, took place overnight in the “Farah-Adam” area near the city of “Harardhere.”
The Secretary-General of Harardhere city confirmed that the operation resulted in the deaths of several leaders and members of the terrorist militias, often referred to as “Khawarij.”
These successful operations underscore the continued efforts of the Somali Army and its partners to combat terrorism and ensure security in the region.
