Eight foreign militants were killed and others injured by the Syrian Army on the Aleppo countryside front this Sunday evening. According to a “Sputnik” correspondent in Aleppo province, northern Syria, the group known as “Saad bin Abi Waqas” attempted to attack a Syrian Army position on the front of the town “Qubtan al-Jabal” in the western countryside of Aleppo. This led to intense clashes between the two sides, including heavy artillery and missile bombardment towards the militants’ supply lines in the area.
The correspondent added that the Syrian Army immediately brought in military reinforcements to the area and fully absorbed the attack.
Confirmed information revealed the death of 8 militants of foreign nationalities and the injury of others during the attack, with no change in the control map.
Recent confrontations involving the Syrian army have seen significant military actions across various regions, including Lattakia and Idlib, as well as escalations in northwest Syria. In Lattakia, the Syrian Army conducted drone strikes targeting Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) terrorists, resulting in multiple casualties among the militants. These operations are part of Syria’s continued efforts to combat terrorist cells within its borders, with the Ministry of Defense highlighting the intensity of these anti-terror operations in areas like Idlib and Lattakia countryside.
Northwest Syria, in particular, has experienced the most intense military escalation in nearly three years. Syrian government forces, backed by Russia, have been involved in aerial and artillery attacks on civilian and military targets. Over 65 civilians have been killed in Idlib and nearby cities, with more than 265 others injured. The attacks have reportedly included the use of internationally prohibited incendiary and cluster weapons, leading to significant civilian casualties and a new wave of displacement. Over 12,000 civilians have been displaced to makeshift reception centers due to these escalations.
Al Jazeera also reported on the situation in Syria, highlighting the Syrian regime’s increased use of suicide drones targeting both rebel and civilian infrastructure. The attacks have led to a notable number of civilian casualties and have further exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the region. The Syrian Civil Defence, known as the White Helmets, has been responding to the numerous attacks, which have targeted residential neighborhoods, public facilities, and essential infrastructure such as schools and hospitals.
