Israeli reports indicate that thousands of Israeli settlers are seeking Canadian visas to escape the ongoing conflict in the region.
Many are aiming to use what is known as the “humanitarian visa,” granted by Canada to Israelis following the start of Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” on October 7, according to the Israeli website “Walla.”
The reports reveal that a significant number of Israelis have submitted their applications to Canada and the Israeli government.
Estimates suggest that approximately 400,000 Jews live in Canada, and as of the 2021 census, about 35,000 Israelis resided in the country, with most concentrated in Toronto.
The Israeli report also estimates that around 2,000 to 3,000 Israelis are added to the population annually. However, this number may have increased significantly since the beginning of the Gaza war.
The Israeli military has continued its operations in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
As of the 267th day of the conflict, the death toll in Gaza has risen to 37,834, the majority of whom are women and children, with 86,858 others injured.
On October 7, Hamas fighters launched an attack on southern Israel, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis, according to official Israeli data.
In response to Hamas’s attack, Israel vowed to “eliminate” the movement.
Israel also reports that 130 hostages remain held in Gaza, with 30 of them having died out of the total 250 individuals kidnapped on October 7.
