Bayern Munich has confirmed the departure of coach Thomas Tuchel at the end of the current season, according to media reports.
In an online statement, they confirmed the news adding that Tuchel will still be in charge of the team till the end of the season.
“We have agreed that we will end our working relationship at the end of this season,” the joint statement read.
“Until then, I will of course continue to do everything I can with my coaching staff to achieve maximum success.”
It is worth highlighting that FC Bayern are currently eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen and have lost their last three games in all competitions.
Tuchel succeeded Julian Nagelsmann in the club hot seat in March 2023 and led the Bavarian giants to an 11th straight Bundesliga crown just two months later.
Bayern Munich recently signed French defender Sacha Boey from Turkish club Galatasaray on a contract that will run until 2028. Boey, 23, had joined Galatasaray on a four-year contract from French club Stade Rennais in 2021.
Although the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, German media estimated the transfer value at around 30 million euros ($32.589 million).
Bayern Munich has been facing a series of challenges with a long list of injuries and absences, including key defenders Dayot Upamecano and Konrad Laimer, who were both injured and are expected to be sidelined for several weeks.
In the same match, defensive midfielder Joshua Kimmich also sustained an injury.
Additionally, defenders Kim Min-Jae and Nassir Mazraoui are unavailable due to international duty, while defender Bouna Sarr is also out with an injury.
