Turkey has expressed a keen interest in investing in Libya’s industrial sector.
This announcement came from Turkish Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, Oruç Baba İnan, during his meeting with Libya’s Minister of Transport for the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, and Deputy Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mustafa Al-Samo.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of preparations for the inaugural Libya International Conference on Industry and Technology, scheduled for May 20-21.
According to a statement from the Libyan Ministry of Industry and Minerals, both parties underscored the significance of exchanging expertise in industrial, technological, and mining sectors.
Deputy Minister Al-Samo emphasized the importance of investment cooperation with Turkey, particularly in the fields of mining, revitalizing stalled factories, and developing industrial zones.
He highlighted Turkey’s extensive capabilities and experience in the industrial sector as vital to Libya’s economic growth.
The upcoming international conference aims to attract officials from various countries to foster industrial development in Libya, indicating a strategic move to reinvigorate the nation’s economy.
This interest in collaboration is not new. Last year, Libya’s Minister of Economy and Trade for the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Huwaij, encouraged Turkish business leaders to strengthen ties with Libya’s private sector.
In a meeting with a delegation led by the Chairman of the Libyan-Turkish Businessmen Council, Murtaza Karanfil, Al-Huwaij, urged Turkish enterprises to participate in executing approved projects aligned with the Government of National Unity’s vision.
Turkey‘s expressed interest and potential investment could play a significant role in the reconstruction and development of Libya’s industrial infrastructure.
With the forthcoming conference, there is hope that concrete steps will be taken to solidify this cooperation, potentially leading to significant economic benefits for both nations.
