The United Arab Emirates declared on Monday, November 7, 2023, the establishment of a comprehensive field hospital in Gaza. The UAE news agency (WAM) confirmed the orders from President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“A complete Emirati field hospital will be set up in Gaza to provide necessary medical support to the Palestinian brothers as part of the humane Operation Knight 3.”
On November 7, 2023, five aircraft took off from Abu Dhabi International Airport. They carried equipment needed for the hospital’s setup and will offload in Egypt’s Al-Arish Airport.
The new Emirati field hospital, with a capacity of 150 beds, will be established in phases. It will include various specialized departments.
The facility will offer services in general surgery, orthopedics, pediatrics, women’s health, anesthesiology, intensive care for both children and adults, internal medicine, dentistry, psychiatry, family medicine, CT scan services, laboratory work, pharmacy, and other medical support services, as reported by WAM.
Previously, the UAE announced an urgent aid package worth $20 million for Palestinians. They also initiated hosting around 1,000 Palestinian children from Gaza for medical treatment, along with their families, in UAE hospitals. This is in addition to launching a community campaign for the relief of Palestinians affected by the conflict, under the slogan “Compassion for Gaza.”
Early November, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has mandated immediate medical treatment for 1,000 Palestinian children from the Gaza Strip. This initiative extends to their families as well, ensuring they receive top-notch medical and healthcare services in UAE hospitals.
This significant humanitarian action is a testament to the UAE’s unwavering commitment to stand by the Palestinian people, offering support and assistance amidst challenging times.
The Emirates News Agency (WAM) confirmed that this move is a direct reflection of the UAE’s foundational principles of brotherhood, compassion, and readiness to extend a helping hand to those in desperate need.
