The United Arab Emirates has underscored the necessity of working towards a ceasefire in Gaza and preventing the expansion of conflict in the region.
During a meeting with Yair Lapid, the leader of the opposition in Israel, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, discussed the latest developments and updates in the region, particularly the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
His Highness emphasized the urgent need to push for a serious political horizon to resume negotiations aimed at achieving comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. This, he noted, would help establish stability and ensure sustained security in the region, and bring an end to the escalating violence.
He also stressed the importance of reaching a ceasefire and curbing the spread of conflict in the region, highlighting that the priority is to end tension and violence, protect civilian lives, and make all efforts to facilitate the flow of urgent humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza through safe passages, unimpeded, intensively, and sustainably.
Furthermore, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken during the ‘Arab Sextet’ ministerial meeting, stated that the significant challenges facing the Middle East currently require intensified regional and international efforts to support a comprehensive peace process based on the two-state solution.
He reiterated the importance of achieving a sustainable ceasefire and preventing the expansion of conflict in the region. His Highness also reaffirmed the UAE’s steadfast approach to supporting global and regional peace and stability, and its commitment to building cooperation bridges with various countries to foster development and prosperity for all peoples.
