In a disturbing incident captured on video in Manchester Town Hall, England, a British police officer was documented assaulting a homeless Sudanese refugee.
The viral footage reveals the moment the officer attacked the man, who was asleep on the ground, by dragging him out of his sleeping bag while he was still inside it, according to the Daily Mail.
The video further shows the officer forcibly grabbing the man by his arms in an attempt to lift him off the ground before deliberately stepping on his chest.
Speaking to the BBC, the man shared that he was sleeping outdoors next to Manchester Town Hall along with a group of other homeless refugees, a routine spot where council officials usually wake them up each morning.
The Sudanese man recounted, “We told them we have nowhere else to go and that it was very cold outside. I told the officer that I needed to sleep, but she stomped on my stomach with her foot.”
This incident has sparked outrage and raises serious concerns about the treatment of refugees and the homeless by law enforcement in the UK.
