The Ukrainian Air Force Commander announced today that Ukrainian forces destroyed 58 attack drones launched by Russia last night, in addition to 26 cruise missiles.
“On the night of March 29, 2024, the enemy launched a strong missile and air strike on Ukraine‘s fuel and energy sector using various types of missiles and attack drones,” he added.
Three power stations suffered damages due to the attack. Energy provider “DTEK” stated, “The invaders targeted three power stations owned by DTEK. Significant damage was inflicted on the equipment. After the attack, engineers began dealing with its aftermath.”
The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has been ongoing since Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014 and the subsequent outbreak of war in eastern Ukraine between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatists.
The situation escalated dramatically in February 2022 when Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, leading to widespread devastation and loss of life.
Since then, Ukraine has faced relentless attacks from Russian forces, including air strikes, artillery bombardments, and cyber warfare.
The use of drones for reconnaissance and attacks has become increasingly common in modern warfare, and both sides have utilized them extensively in the conflict.
The destruction of 58 attack drones and 26 missiles by the Ukrainian Army marks a significant success in its efforts to defend against Russian aggression.
However, the continued attacks highlight the ongoing threat posed by Russia and the challenges faced by Ukraine in defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
