The Ukrainian military has announced the successful interception and destruction of 16 drones launched by Russia towards Ukrainian territory, as reported by “Cairo News”.
In a unified stance, the Group of Seven (G7) nations has urgently called upon Russia to immediately cease its war efforts and fully and unconditionally withdraw its military forces from internationally recognized Ukrainian lands.
In a joint statement, the G7 leaders urged all nations to adhere to international law and unequivocally reject or ignore any attempts by Russia to annex territories through force.
The G7 leaders committed to escalating the cost of Russia’s war efforts, aiming to deplete its revenue sources and hinder its capability to bolster its military machinery.
This commitment is evidenced by the recent suite of sanctions adopted by the group. They also called upon Ukraine’s donors to confirm their financial contributions for the year 2024.
According to a statement published on the White House website, the G7 unequivocally refused to recognize any past or future elections conducted by Russia in Ukrainian territories or their outcomes.
The G7 vowed to continue taking measures against “third-state actors” that materially support Russia’s war efforts, including imposing additional sanctions on entities within “third states” where appropriate.
Furthermore, the group appealed to financial institutions to refrain from supporting Russia’s war machine and pledged to take suitable measures, in accordance with their legal frameworks, to deter such behavior.
They highlighted that financial institutions and other entities facilitating Russia’s access to essential components or equipment for its defense industrial base are indirectly supporting actions that undermine Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.
The G7 leaders held a video conference, organized by Italy, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to mark the second anniversary of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
